Last night's Aterciopelados show was beyond amazing. Their live energy and dynamic sounds confirmed my appreciation and awe of their music. Andrea smiled during the entire performance revealing her shared bliss of the evening. Luckily, the show was quite intimate. I knew that they could be playing at a larger venue, but was glad that there were only about 250 Aterciopelados followers in attendance. This way, the energy stayed high throughout the show, and it felt like all of us there connected with the performers and the music.
One of the many highlights of the show for me was when the group played my favorite song "Luz Azul." If you can imagine that something overtakes me when I hear the recorded version of the song, that when it was played live I was completely ecstatic! It was as though the song swallowed me and I will forever remember the feeling of becoming part of it.
As if that wasn't enough, the show was so rich and full of life. The connection between the music and the musicians resonated so much that the show itself came across quite spiritual in nature. They incorporated traditional instruments into most of the performances, staying close to their roots while also invigorating the dynamic with contemporary sounds and techniques of this digital era. To put it simply, the experience left me inspired, full of joy, and completely in awe of being so swept away.
